Writer/Art Director/Creative Director/Editor/Illustrator/Cartoonist/Woodworker
During my years in the advertising industry, I worked for agencies in Illinois, Wisconsin and Georgia. As Art Director at Leo Burnett USA in Chicago, I produced national advertising for Heinz Ketchup, Wilson Sporting Goods, Glad Bags, RCA Television and Nestle products.
As Creative Director I have created and overseen major campaigns for Piggly Wiggly, Miller Electric, Oster Housewares, Weathershield Windows and lots more.
My drawing style was developed and perfected by creating storyboards for television ads, graphic layouts for print ads and improvised morning cartoons on my daughter’s lunch bags before she hopped on the school bus.
I opened (and sadly, shut down) a small ad agency in Atlanta, Punch Advertising, before publishing the “About Covington to Madison” Magazine for several years.
I live in a 190 year old house in Shady Dale, Georgia where I make unique handmade furniture and draw cartoons for the Morgan County Citizen.
I currently have been a remote hired gun for agencies in need of copywriting help. A recent 6-month gig was as a Technical Writer for the Standard Insurance Company, assigned to the marketing group servicing the California Teachers Association. They made use of my Art Director side as well with design projects using Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator. My supervisor there was Kara Haber (kara.haber@standard.com).
